Our story

Ronnie Kayondo Jr., the inspiration for the Athletes Medical Fund Uganda

In February 2025, Eagles fly-half Ronnie Kayondo suffered a fatal head injury during a match. Lacking insurance, his surgery was delayed, and he passed away. This loss underscores the urgent need for a dedicated medical fund to support over 5,400 rugby players in case of any injuries while training or participating in a game.

Want to Play Contact Rugby in Uganda?

If you're eager to get into the game, joining a club is the best and safest way to start. Contact rugby is a fast-paced, physical sport that requires proper technique, discipline, and teamwork—and those are best learned in a structured environment.

At a rugby club, you'll train under qualified coaches who are committed to teaching you the skills you need while keeping safety a top priority. Whether you're completely new or have some experience, you’ll benefit from expert guidance and a focus on injury prevention, correct form, and gradual progression.

You’ll also become part of a community of experienced players who support and challenge each other to improve. The camaraderie, shared goals, and team spirit you find in a club environment make rugby not just a sport, but a lifestyle. So if you're ready to play contact rugby the right way—join a club and get started.
